Coup de Filet (Casting the Net) is a Hermès scarf designed by Henri de Linarès and issued in a first and only edition in 1955. The French painter, a specialist in hunting and fishing scenes and wildlife, offers here one of his most poetic compositions for the Maison.

The whole scarf depicts a fishing net in which sardines, mackerel and shad are struggling. The ecru ground and the petrol blue border recall the graphic simplicity of 1950s decorative arts.

A 1955 edition, never reissued: a true museum piece, extremely rare and sought after by collectors of the earliest Hermès scarves. An exceptional fact: Carré Society has brought together three separate examples of this Coup de Filet, in three colourways. This example is the petrol blue colourway; you can also find the green and navy blue versions in the boutique. In good overall condition. Please note a small hole.

A word from Diane

Coup de Filet is one of the silent treasures of the Maison Hermès. 1955, Henri de Linarès, a single edition, never reissued: a collector’s object in the truest sense, the kind one hunts for years at antique dealers and specialist sales. To see three examples emerge at the same time from private archives, in three different colourways, is for me a rare moment. A contemplative, luminous piece, to wear as an outward sign of love for the early days of the Hermès scarf.

Please note

This scarf is a pre-owned piece. Despite the utmost care taken in its selection and presentation, it may show slight signs of wear that in no way diminish its charm or its wearability. All our scarves are cleaned and pressed by a specialist Hermès dry cleaner before going on sale.
